About George Guo Photography

Hi, I’m George Guo, the Maryland based Event and Portraits photographer behind George Guo Photography.
My approach to photography is calm, non‑obstructive, and detail‑oriented. I believe the most meaningful images are created when people feel comfortable being themselves — not when they’re directed or interrupted. Whether I’m documenting a school event, creating professional headshots, or photographing families, my goal is always the same: to observe carefully and capture moments with precision and respect.
Before focusing more intentionally on photography, I worked as a scientist in cancer research. That background deeply influences how I work today. Scientific research trained me to be patient, methodical, and highly attentive to small details — qualities that translate naturally into photography. I don’t rush moments, and I don’t rely on chance. I plan carefully, observe quietly, and wait for the right expressions, gestures, and interactions to unfold.
My photography journey began over two decades ago, evolving alongside both film and digital technology. Over the years, photography has grown from a passion into a professional practice grounded in experience, technical understanding, and thoughtful storytelling. I’m especially drawn to documenting real interactions — the quiet focus before a performance, the confidence in a professional portrait, or the genuine connections within families and communities.
I frequently work with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups, where trust, discretion, and professionalism are essential. I’m mindful of privacy, respectful of environments involving children, and intentional about how images are shared and displayed. This same care extends to every client I work with.
Based in Maryland, I serve Baltimore County and surrounding areas, and I’m happy to travel for projects that align well. Every assignment is approached with the same care — from preparation and communication to final image delivery.
Thank you for visiting. If my approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect and learn more about what you’re looking to create together.
